Cardio Twister

From LoveToKnow Exercise

The movements of the Cardio Twister aerobic machine bear a resemblance to a dance that was popular in the 1950s and 1960s. At the time, the music of Chubby Checker filled the community centers and high school proms, while teenagers danced The Twist. Since the American fitness craze had not begun, most people didn't realize that The Twist was an excellent calorie burner, as well an efficient toner of the waist and mid-section. Like The Twist, the Cardio Twister uses rotary movements, which are crucial to any fitness program.

Importance of Rotary Movements

In the past, most exercise programs involved linear movement. However, with the growing popularity of functional training, people began to realize the importance of rotary movements. For example, rotary movements are crucial in sports such as tennis and golf. However, we also use these movements in daily life. If you're sitting at your desk and you turn around to look at someone, you will be using the muscles involved in rotary movement. While there are many strength and flexibility exercises that make use of rotation, most aerobic machines still use linear movement. This is what sets the Cardio Twister apart from other types of aerobic machines.

How Does the Cardio Twister Work?

The Cardio Twister combines the aerobic movements of a stair-stepping machine with the rotational movements of a torso machine. In other words, while your feet are peddling, your upper torso is performing rotational movements.

Benefits of the Cardio Twister

Since a multitude of major muscle groups are being used in this exercise, caloric expenditure is increased. Additionally, the muscles of the hamstrings and buttocks are getting a decent workout, along with muscles in the abdominal and oblique area. Because of what the manufacturers call the advanced dual-drive gearbox, the foot peddles move both up and down and in and out. As such, the machine can also tone the abductor and adductor muscles, otherwise known as the inner and outer thighs.

The Cardio Twister aerobic exercise machine also benefits from the novelty factor. Since its movements are so different than those of other types of aerobic machine, it inspires curiosity and possibly exercise adherence.

How Much Does it Cost?

You can get a free trial of the Cardio Twister for $14.95. If you decide that you want to keep it, you will be billed for four consecutive monthly payments of $49.95, or you can pay the entire $199.80 up front. If you decide to return the machine, you must dissemble it yourself and pay for shipping charges. However, unlike other home-fitness machines, if you keep the Cardio Twister, there is no charge for shipping and handling. A Cardio Twist workout DVD featuring IDEA fitness presenter Brenda DyGraf, as well as the Thin, Trim and Tasty Meal Plan is included in the price.

Complaints

Unfortunately, this is where the honeymoon ends. Like many other types of home exercise equipment, there have been a significant number of complaints, which have been posted on a number of consumer websites. Common problems include chains and bolts that come loose and defective computer read-outs. Unfortunately, while $200 is a considerable amount of money, it is not enough to produce a sturdy, high quality machine. Thus, the Cardio Twister is an excellent idea in theory that does not work well in practice. Buyer, beware.
