Naked Workout
From LoveToKnow Exercise
Unless you're a nudist, you may be thinking, why would I ever want to start a naked workout program? There are actually a few valid reasons why regular, clothed gym goers may want to explore this unconventional fitness routine. For one, you can see every muscle in your body during naked exercise. Other exercisers simply find it freeing to be without tight fitting, sweaty gym clothes and that workouts in the buff are empowering to their self-image.
Why Be Naked
Looking Good Naked
This is perhaps the biggest reason non-nudists choose to work out naked. The Look Good Naked workout program has soared in popularity over the past few years and some of its followers have taken its message to heart. If your goal is to look good naked, then why not see every muscle while working out so you can lift and develop normally covered areas just the way you want to. Some exercisers find it very inhibiting to not be able to see the muscles and areas of their body that they want to improve the most.
Bodybuilders and other athletes scrutinize every tiny muscle in their biceps when doing curls to make sure they are exercised to perfection. If you're unhappy with your breasts or buttocks, experts say working out these areas naked in front of a mirror can help you define and shape and them better.
Freedom
Most nudists and some regular gym goers and athletes find workout clothes incredibly restrictive. Gym clothes are not usually particularly comfortable and can truly be a pain to those who wish to feel every movement they make with their body during exercise. Ballet dancers, ice skaters, Pilates and yoga enthusiasts, and gymnasts can especially benefit from exercising in the nude.
Empowerment
Some individuals have spent their entire life feeling ashamed at the way their bodies look. These same individuals likely use all sorts of clothing to try and hide what they deem as unacceptable imperfections on their body. In an effort to overcome this complex, some people that feel this way turn to naked exercise.
By working out naked, people can learn to accept their bodies and at the same time see every part of their body improve over time. Many naked exercisers say this is an incredibly empowering experience.
About The Naked Workout
Obstacles
There are obviously some obstacles for those who wish to take part in naked exercise. The main one is a place to work out. In America, most people are limited to working out in the privacy of their own home. Most Americans trying naked workouts for the first time would only consider this option. However, using a home gym poses its own set of challenges and benefits. The primary aspect you should consider when creating your home gym for naked exercise is mirrors. To get the full benefits of naked workouts and to be able to see your body completely, you'll need a large mirror installed in your home gym.
Now if you're a bit more adventurous and wish to work out with others who are naked, you'll run into some trouble finding a place to do this in the U.S. While several hip European gyms are implementing one "naked day" a week, American gyms remain much more modest. If you wish to exercise naked in a gym setting, then check out the American Association For Nude Recreation to find the next naked exercise event nearest you.
The Routine
Any workout routine can be performed naked. However, there are some exercises that are really enhanced when being done while in the nude. For instance:
- Isometric exercises – These exercises work multiple groups of muscles at the same time and you can see the complete muscle contractions when naked.
- Exercises without machines – Machines cover up parts of your body that you'll likely want to see during a naked routine.
- Full body exercises – These exercises showcase your entire physique and include exercises such as squats, lunges and push-ups.
A naked workout may not be for everyone, but if you decide to try it you'll most likely reap a few good benefits that most other exercisers will never experience.
