Hi Carole, Before jumping rope, you should warm-up for five or ten minutes before getting into the workout. You should do some basic stretches that get the entire body warmed up. Any of these basic exercises on Webmd (http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/healthtool-basic-stretches) will work. Side bends, shoulder circles, wrist flexor and extensor, triceps stretch, standing quadriceps stretch and the groin stretch can be particularly beneficial. Then you can simply walk in place or gently jog in place right before getting into the workout.

-- Contributed by: CaroleHi Richard,
You certainly have a good start. What will it take for you to become a professional?
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladHi, I think I'm living proof of what jump rope and what I call "JumpRock" can accompish. I started jumping at 55. I'm 61 now, you can see the results on my website, find it by searching on "QuestForEndorphins" or "Energy Focused Exercise" - nothing's for sale, although I am writing a book and posting it online. I'd love to become a professional jumper so I'm always looking for advice.
